Chard Branch Sea Sunday

Chard Branch Sea Sunday

The 13th July saw the Chard Royal Naval Association hold their annual 'Sea Sunday' service at the lovely church of St Thomas at Cricket St Thomas.
The service is held annually in remembrance of all those lost at sea in their service to the nation in pursuance of keeping the nation in supply  of the necessities of life at home from the need of fish and food to the luxuries of modern living in the form hi tech goods and transport in the form of imported cars etc.

The service was well attended with many of the congregation being regular users of the church along with many guests staying at the location on weekend breaks and supported by the 12 members of the Chard Royal Naval Association along with their Standard Bearer for the occasion Shipmate Bert Braun.
The church collection held during the service raised £107 for the Seafarers UK.

Later in the afternoon  thirty of the association  met  for their summer luncheon at the Howley Tavern and had a lovely meal supplied by Sue and Steve and their staff, all in all a good day  was had by all with a reasonable contribution being made to our Seafarers.
